Child Actor/Talent/Model

In 2020, a law passed that all children under 16 years of age represented by a licensed and bonded talent agency are mandated to open a Coogan Trust Account in order to obtain a work permit.  The laws mandate a trust account for working child performers 16 years and under set aside 15% of the child actor’s gross income.  Along with all the items listed above, this trust must be open to obtain the work permit.

To open a Coogan Trust Account, you typically need to bring:

  1. Social Security Card
  2. Birth Certificate
  3. Proof of Identity
  4. Best financial institution to contact is Actors Federal Credit Union.  No local banks will open a Coogan Trust Account.
  5. Proof of this account being open must be presented.
