The first portion of this workshop will focus on a breakdown of trends in substance use by youth both at the national level and locally. Madison and St. Clair County data is included.  Substances including alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, prescription drugs, and opioids are covered in addition to myths and misconceptions surrounding the use of NARCAN. The second portion will provide a detailed view of e-cigarettes, their effects and goes a step further in explaining how to recognize signs of use in youth. We will also explore how to talk to youth about substance use and how to address use if they are already a current user.  Strategies for parental involvement and steps for schools and communities to partnership will also be shared.
