Objective:  To perform duties on a daily basis as assigned, to plan and direct special education services for the District which includes but is not limited to performing administrative assistant duties for the Special Education Director.

Training and Qualifications:
High School Diploma required
College work or degree in secretarial, business administration and/or technology preferred
Aptitude, skills, knowledge, and experience in special education, accounting, bookkeeping, technology and office machines
Organization skills, accommodating, work well with all types of people
Willingness to assume additional duties when necessary
Effective at working under pressure
Strong communication and collaboration skills

Supervised by:  The Director of Special Services

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Knowledge of State and Federal Special Education Rules and Regulations regarding special education personnel, programs, and procedures
Written and oral communication skills needed to complete correspondence, meet the public, maintain a working relationship with parents on sensitive and emotional issues regarding their child, and work with faculty and staff throughout the district appropriately
Ability to establish, organize, and maintain appropriate student records
Ability to maintain complex calendar for staffings, annual reviews, and other student related meetings
Experienced in working with confidential issues and general office procedures
Skilled in computers:  word processing, spreadsheets, data-based creations, and web-based IEP/504 system
Skilled in working with general office machines, fax, calculator, etc.
Organizational and managerial skills necessary to orchestrate multi-task projects
Self-starter and ability to work with minimal supervision

Compensation:  $18.50/hr
