Salary Schedule for 2025-2026 SY: Step 1 Salary Range: $44,500 – $53,250 (Bachelors – Masters+45) 
NOTE: District 19 recognizes all years of certified full time years of service when placing teachers on the salary schedule.

Job Summary:
Mascoutah High School is seeking a dynamic and knowledgeable Industrial Arts Teacher to teach courses in construction, carpentry, industrial technology, and drafting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in hands-on technical education, a passion for career-readiness instruction, and the ability to engage students in project-based learning. This teacher will provide instruction that prepares students for careers in skilled trades and technical fields while facilitating problem-solving, critical thinking, and workplace readiness skills.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Illinois Professional Educator License (PEL) with endorsement in Industrial Technology, Technology Education, or related field (or ability to obtain certification).
  • Construction Trades and/or Drafting & Design Tech endorsements preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Education, Technology Education, Career & Technical Education, or a related field (or work based experience to obtain certification).
  • Experience in construction, carpentry, manufacturing, engineering, or drafting is strongly preferred.
  • Proficiency with CAD software (AutoCAD, SketchUp, SolidWorks, etc.) and familiarity with industry-standard tools and machinery.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, OSHA standards, and industry best practices.
  • Strong communication and classroom management skills.
  • Passion for hands-on learning, workforce preparation, and career-readiness initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications:
*Experience working with high school students in a technical education setting.
*Industry certifications
*Background in career and technical education (CTE) program development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for construction, carpentry, industrial technology, and drafting courses aligned with state CTE standards and industry best practices.
  • Provide hands-on instruction in areas such as woodworking, blueprint reading, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), materials processing, safety protocols, and construction techniques.
  • Teach students the proper use of hand tools, power tools, and industrial equipment, ensuring strict adherence to safety procedures.
  • Facilitate project-based learning experiences that encourage teamwork, creativity, and real-world problem-solving.
  • Maintain and supervise a safe, organized, and well-equipped workshop/lab environment.
  • Integrate career exploration and workforce preparation, including industry certifications and apprenticeships.
  • Facilitates relationships with local businesses, trade unions, and community partners to enhance student learning and career opportunities.
  • Implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those interested in post-secondary education and direct entry into the workforce.
  • Assess and document student progress through formative and summative assessments, projects, and hands-on skill demonstrations.
  • Maintain inventory and budget for tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring proper care and maintenance.
  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and professional development to stay updated on best practices in industrial education.
  • Collaborate with colleagues in the Career & Technical Education department to develop interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives

Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.

  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
  • Ability to use computer network system and software applications as needed.

  • Ability to communicate effectively with students and parents.
  • Ability to engage in self-evaluation with regard to performance and professional growth.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
