JOB SUMMARY
Mascoutah High School is seeking a dynamic and student-centered Career & Technical Education (CTE) Teacher with a dual endorsement in Audio/Visual Production and Accounting. The ideal candidate will design and deliver engaging, hands-on learning experiences that prepare students for careers and further education in the fields of digital media, video production, and financial services. This position is ideal for a creative and detail-oriented educator with strong technical and analytical skills, as well as a passion for empowering students through real-world, career-connected learning.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Certification/License:
Illinois Professional Educator License in Career and Technical Education with endorsements in Business Marketing, Audio/Visual Production, and Accounting at the secondary level (or ability to obtain certification).
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (or work based experience to obtain certification).
Experience in audio/visual production and accounting is strongly preferred.
Proficiency with Audio/Visual Production (ie.Adobe products), Accounting software, and other relevant tools.
Strong communication and classroom management skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience working with high school students in a CTE education setting.
Industry certifications
Background in career and technical education (CTE) program development.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Audio/Visual Production Instruction
Design and implement instructional units aligned with Illinois CTE and industry standards in areas such as video production, audio recording, digital editing, and multimedia design.
Teach introductory to advanced-level audio/visual courses, including topics like digital storytelling, studio production, live broadcasting, and post-production editing.
Manage and maintain an audio/visual production lab, including cameras, microphones, soundboards, lighting, editing software, and related equipment.
Facilitate hands-on learning through individual and team projects, including school-related productions (e.g., announcements, events, promotional videos).
Guide students in developing portfolios of their work and preparing for industry-recognized certifications, internships, and/or postsecondary opportunities.
Collaborate with other staff and departments to support school communications and student-led media projects.
Supervise student work and provide meaningful feedback that supports both technical growth and creative development.
Stay current with industry trends and evolving technologies in audio/visual media and integrate them into instruction.
A/V 1 is dual credit through SWIC and A/V 2 gains certification with Adobe Premiere Pro using Certiport.
Accounting Instruction
Develop and teach accounting courses, ensuring alignment with CTE Business standards.
Provide instruction in topics such as financial literacy, basic accounting principles, journal entries, ledgers, financial statements, payroll, and accounting software.
Integrate practical, real-world applications and career exploration in finance, accounting, and business-related fields.
Prepare students for postsecondary study and/or careers in business and finance, including support for certifications or dual credit where applicable.
Incorporate technology and industry tools such as spreadsheets and accounting platforms to enhance learning.
Encourage ethical decision-making, accuracy, and attention to detail in all financial instruction and student work.
Support student organizations, if applicable.
General Responsibilities
Create a classroom culture that promotes creativity, professionalism, responsibility, and collaboration.
Participate in school and district professional development, CTE program meetings, and continuous improvement efforts.
Maintain accurate records of student performance and provide timely feedback and grade reporting.
Support positive relationships with students, parents, and the broader school community.
Develop and implement engaging lesson plans for construction, carpentry, industrial technology, and drafting courses aligned with state CTE standards and industry best practices.
Provide hands-on instruction in areas such as woodworking, blueprint reading, CAD (Computer-Aided Design), materials processing, safety protocols, and construction techniques.
Teach students the proper use of hand tools, power tools, and industrial equipment, ensuring strict adherence to safety procedures.
Facilitate project-based learning experiences that encourage teamwork, creativity, and real-world problem-solving.
Maintain and supervise a safe, organized, and well-equipped workshop/lab environment.
Integrate career exploration and workforce preparation, including industry certifications and apprenticeships.
Facilitates relationships with local businesses, trade unions, and community partners to enhance student learning and career opportunities.
Implement differentiated instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, including those interested in post-secondary education and direct entry into the workforce.
Assess and document student progress through formative and summative assessments, projects, and hands-on skill demonstrations.
Maintain inventory and budget for tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring proper care and maintenance.
Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), faculty meetings, and professional development to stay updated on best practices in industrial education.
Collaborate with colleagues in the Career & Technical Education department to develop interdisciplinary projects and school-wide initiatives.
Additional Duties
Performs other related tasks as assigned by the Principal and other central office administrators as designated by the Superintendent.
