Rate of Pay: $17.15-21.15 (Based on experience) and board paid IMRF
JOB SUMMARY
Provide educational support to the licensed staff member in providing instruction to individual or small groups of students in a classroom or other learning environment; translate orally and in writing for teachers, administrators, students and parents; as well as prepare instructional materials as directed. The Bilingual Instructional Aide is expected to establish and maintain effective, appropriate working relationships with students, parents, and staff. The Bilingual Instructional Aide takes no independent actions, but has some decision-making authority limited and regulated by board policy and state law. .
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist in the preparation and delivery of the education program under the supervision of, and as directed by the assigned certified staff member.
Assist in the direct supervision of students under the supervision of, and directed by teh assigned certified staff member as necessary and directed.
Communicate with students in English and designated second language (Spanish) to facility instructional processes; provide translation in parent-teacher conferences or telephone calls with limited or non-English speaking parents; translate or write notes, letters and other materials.
Communicate effectively with teachers, both general and special education teachers, to help facilitate the educational goals of the student.
Establish and maintain effective relationships with students and staff.
Organize and care for classroom equipment and materials.
Participate in general staff meetings, training programs, and in-service sessions, as required.
Responsible for any data collections, facilitating accommodations, translation/interpretation of information, etc. as required by EL or classroom teacher.
Adhere to appropriate communication channels with pupils, parents, and community members.
Respect student and staff confidentiality.
Abide by all applicable laws and comply with all policies and procedures of Mascoutah CUSD #19.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Must hold a valid IL paraprofessional license.
Bilingualism (Spanish), interpreting skills, or other licenses directly related to the specific assignment.
Experience working with students is preferred.
Ability to work well with others and in a team environment with peers and administration.
Enforce school regulations and policies in a professional manner.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills to work with teachers, education support personnel, building administrators, parents, and community members.
Demonstrate ability to complete assigned tasks/duties with minimal supervision.
Demonstrate the ability to respond to feedback in a professional manner.
Demonstrate appropriate interaction with students treating them with dignity and respect.
