The Board of Education of Lebanon Community Unit School District No. 9, Lebanon, Illinois is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Superintendent of Schools.
POSITION: Superintendent of Schools
DISTRICT INFORMATION: PreK-12 with approximately 530 students and 100 teachers and staff.
COMPENSATION PACKAGE : A regionally competitive compensation package that will be based on successful administrative experience and education. Actual salary, benefits, and contractual terms/conditions will be discussed with the final candidate.
QUALIFICATIONS/ CERTIFICATION: As set forth by the State of Illinois Certification requirements. Substantial teaching, principal, and district level experience are preferred.

TIMELINE: Finalists will be invited to an interview by the Board of Education between the dates of June 3 to June 11.

Profile of the Desired New Superintendent
The new superintendent should be a person who:
1. Is highly visible, personable, approachable, open-minded, genuine, and confident.
2. Becomes vested in the District and community; attends school and community events, and works to develop positive working relationships with all stakeholders.
3. Is a visionary leader who is forward-thinking and can inspire and empower others; monitors the District’s strategic plan to maintain a high level of academic and operational success while protecting the financial health of the District.
4. Creates opportunities for innovative, alternative and/or more efficient delivery methods when appropriate, while respecting tradition.
5. Is a team builder with high expectations who hires well and delegates effectively; is supportive and collaborative without micromanaging.
6. Possesses a strong academic background; is knowledgeable about curriculum, instruction and how students learn, and is dedicated to the education of the whole child; seeks to provide a wide variety of opportunities for all students to ensure readiness for college and/or career.
7. Is technology literate; supports technology integration and 21st Century learning skills.
8. Understands school finance and makes wise, equitable decisions regarding the allocation of limited resources; is creative and thinks outside the box; seeks grant-funded opportunities.
9. Is an excellent communicator who listens actively, writes well, speaks articulately, and can deliver clear, consistent messages to both internal and external audiences utilizing a variety of methods.
10. Models high standards and holds others accountable in a fair and consistent manner; enforces school and District policies and makes tough decisions, even when not popular.
