Participants will learn how to: 1. Use assessments and measurement models identified by the joint committee in determining the student growth attributable to individual teachers/principals and understand how different types of assessments are used for measuring growth; 2. Use data from the evaluation rubric, other evidence collected, and best practices relative to evaluating student growth to link teacher/principal and school-level professional development plans to evaluation results; 3. Create, in collaboration with teachers/principals, supportive, targeted professional development plans that consider past results, contribute to professional growth, and assist teachers/principals in aligning professional development and goal-setting to school improvement goals; and 4. Communicate evaluation outcomes and findings in constructive and supportive ways that enable teachers/principals to set goals and improve practice. NOTE: Participants must bring a fully charged device to this academy, complete and submit the application/dissemination prior to departure.

ROE Instructional Literacy Coach Emily Sackett will provide an overview of the K-12 IL Literacy Plan and potential opportunities for on-site professional development.   This will be followed by retired OTHS # 203 Principal Rich Bickel will facilitate a session on Effectively Managing School Crisis: Preparation and Response.  This session will focus on how administrators, supervisors, directors and leaders can implement effective professional practices in preparing for, and managing, crisis scenarios in the school environment.  Participants will delve into strategies, protocols, and best practices for navigating and responding to various crisis situations that may arise within educational settings.  From planning and preparation, to implementation, to execution – every facet of effectively managing crisis scenarios will be discussed.  Join Rich Bickel, former High School Principal of the Year (IPA Southwestern Region and former ISBE Teacher of the Year Finalist) as these pro-active and practical strategies have been proven to foster effective preparation, communication and response, promote a positive and nurturing school climate, and best of all can be implemented immediately.
