I’m a Paraprofessional, Now What? K-12 (AM Session)

August 2, 2022 @ 8:30 am - 11:30 am

Free – $63.00

You have been hired into one of the best roles in education. You have the opportunity to change a life and make a huge impact on society! You are probably filled with questions though, such as: What is my role as a paraprofessional? What are my duties and assignments? What does “help” look like? What is an IEP? Can I say “No” to a task? Am I an equal member of the education team? Will I be required to write lesson plans, discipline students, speak to parents? What does the teacher want from me? These were the questions I had when I was hired. These are also the questions that many of the paraprofessionals that worked alongside me when I taught had. This workshop will answer those and many more. This was developed after years of being a paraprofessional and even more years of training/working with paraprofessionals and consulting with dozens of teachers and paraprofessionals. While getting the answers to those questions is important, there is also the need for having a toolbox to go to for instructional and behavorial strategies for when you are working 1:1 or in a small group. This workshop will cover that as well. A brainstorming time will be included to talk about situations that you have dealt with in the past or have been told you may deal with in your role this year. Note: This same session will be replicated on August 2 from 12:30-3:30pm.
