Suicide Risk Assessment in Schools
Conducting a thorough suicide risk assessment for students is an essential skill for school mental health professionals. Topics in this presentation include the step-by-step how-to’s of high-quality suicide risk assessment in the school setting, the pros and cons of specific suicide risk assessment forms, steps to take with low-risk and high-risk students, and use of the Emergency Notification Form. There will be time for questions and discussion.

Postvention: What to Do after a Student’s Suicide
After a suicide, the most important goal is the prevention of suicide contagion. Topics in this presentation include the step-by-step process to use after a student’s suicide, steps for making death announcements to students and the school community, tips on support/counseling rooms, and handling memorials and the student’s desk, locker, and parking space. Time for questions and discussion.
