Work:
The Acquisitions Specialist is responsible for organizing, cataloging, and preparing library materials for use; maintaining components of the cataloging system; performing responsibilities associated with library expenditures and funds collected; and performing specialized functions essential to the library media center’s collection and program.
General Responsibilities:
Prepare orders for library and program materials
Prepare library materials for circulation
Keep record of program expenditures
Maintain records within the library’s catalog and OCLC
Import database records for discovery within the library’s catalog
Assist in annual inventories and collection analysis
Training and Qualifications:
High school diploma and related work experience
Cataloging experience, cataloging training, or related work experience (Knowledge of DDC, AACR, MARC records, and Library of Congress Subject Headings)
Strong computer skills required, with knowledge of databases, library automation systems, and circulation systems
Microsoft suite experience required (Outlook, Word, & Excel)
Established and proficient ability to multi-task, great attention to detail, and efficient, accommodating demeanor
Terms of Employment:
12 months
