Team Teacher (Similar to Title I)

 

NATURE OF WORK

The Team Teacher shall be data-driven and be responsible for using a variety of materials and techniques with individuals and small groups of students to increase achievement in language arts and math. The teacher will collaborate with classroom teachers analyze data and plan lessons to meet students’ needs.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

● Develop and coordinate lessons cooperatively with classroom teachers to ensure student success and support teachers

● Use data to drive planning and instruction to meet student needs

● Analyze data and provide instructional plans of action to increase reading and math achievement

● Use a variety of teaching techniques to provide opportunities for all types of learning

● Guide the learning process toward closing the achievement gaps

● Establish and maintain standards of pupil behavior in the classroom that are essential to a functional learning environment

● Inform the Building Principal of management problems as they occur

● Communicate with parents/guardians as needed

● Maintain data and submit reports of program participation as directed by the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum

● Establish and maintain open lines of communication with students, parents/guardians, and staff

● Supervise and plan lessons for the MTSS paraprofessionals

● Plans and provides direct instructional interventions to individual and small groups of students

● Attend all faculty meetings and assigned committee meetings

● Participate in benchmarking of students

● Participate in parent/guardian meetings, conferences, and periodic evening school events

 

MINIMUM TRAINING – LICENSURE

● Possession of a current Professional Educator License issued by the State of Illinois.

● Master’s Degree in Reading or Math (preferred but not required)

● Five years of successful teaching experience

● Extensive knowledge of literacy practices in reading and writing and mathematical practices

● Experience using assessment data to shape instruction

● Strong organizational and interpersonal skills of communication, problem-solving, and collaboration

● Strong understanding of curriculum and instructional strategies

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

● Assess classes to see which students might benefit from tiered instruction

● Progress monitor students to gauge the need for additional lessons

● Collaborate and meet with teachers to determine areas of focus for students

● Create lesson plans that correspond with student needs
