PD Co-op Member Districts $155.00 Non PD Co-op District $185.00 (lunch included on site) This is the one required student growth retraining course for teacher and administrator evaluators who are renewing their designations required to evaluate educators. Participants will learn how to: 1. Use assessments and measurement models identified by the joint committee in determining the student growth attributable to individual teachers/principals and understand how different types of assessments are used for measuring growth; 2. Use data from the evaluation rubric, other evidence collected, and best practices relative to evaluating student growth to link teacher/principal and school-level professional development plans to evaluation results; 3. Create, in collaboration with teachers/principals, supportive, targeted professional development plans that consider past results, contribute to professional growth, and assist teachers/principals in aligning professional development and goal-setting to school improvement goals; and 4. Communicate evaluation outcomes and findings in constructive and supportive ways that enable teachers/principals to set goals and improve practice. NOTE: Participants must bring a fully charged device to this academy, complete and submit the application/dissemination prior to departure.

Participants will be able to choose and preview 8 of the 10 podcasts at their leisure and submit a brief reflection after each session! Join Emily Sackett, ROE # 50 Instructional Literacy Coach who will facilitate two virtual meetings on October 28th and November 18th from 4:00-5:00 pm to discuss what you've learned (a virtual link will be sent prior to the event dates). When and where you listen to the podcast is up to you! Who should attend? K-8 administrators (strongly encouraged), reading interventionists, instructional coaches, general and special educators. There’s a better way to work! This workshop for daily Google Workspace users will help you develop a workflow to improve efficiency, cut down on the clutter, and help you get stuff done. We’ll practice strategies that help you prioritize tasks, organize files, manage emails, collect and analyze data, and run efficient meetings. Most of our focus will be on Google Workspace tools such as Drive, Gmail, Calendar, Keep, Tasks, and Chrome. This workshop will combine tech tips with strategic choices that will help you improve efficiency and work smarter. Participants should bring a laptop or Chromebook to the workshop to practice the skills as they learn.

Retired OTHS # 203 Principal Rich Bickel will facilitate a session on Effectively Managing School Crisis: Preparation and Response.  This session will focus on how administrators, supervisors, directors and leaders can implement effective professional practices in preparing for, and managing, crisis scenarios in the school environment.  Participants will delve into strategies, protocols, and best practices for navigating and responding to various crisis situations that may arise within educational settings.  From planning and preparation, to implementation, to execution – every facet of effectively managing crisis scenarios will be discussed.  Join Rich Bickel, former High School Principal of the Year (IPA Southwestern Region and former ISBE Teacher of the Year Finalist) as these pro-active and practical strategies have been proven to foster effective preparation, communication and response, promote a positive and nurturing school climate, and best of all can be implemented immediately. Join Joe Cipfl, ROE # 50 Computer Science Development Program Director in this informative session applicable to all K-12 school administrators. This combined presentation and workshop will provide an introduction to artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in K-12 schools. Participants will learn the background of AI generative tools, the benefits and challenges of using AI in education, and how to develop a policy and vision for AI in their schools. The workshop will also include hands-on activities to help participants apply AI concepts to their own schools. Participants will need to bring a fully charged device to this session. This is a free workshop provided by Tracy Hancock (Community Outreach Specialist) from Chestnut Health for administrators, social workers, school counselors, educators and related support personnel. The first portion of this workshop will focus on a breakdown of trends in substance use by youth both at the national level and locally. Madison and St. Clair County data is included.  Substances including alcohol, nicotine, marijuana, prescription drugs, and opioids are covered in addition to myths and misconceptions surrounding the use of NARCAN. The second portion will provide a detailed view of e-cigarettes, their effects and goes a step further in explaining how to recognize signs of use in youth. We will also explore how to talk to youth about substance use and how to address use if they are already a current user.  Strategies for parental involvement and steps for schools and communities to partnership will also be shared. This session is free thanks to the IL SLDS Project.  A virtual link will be sent out prior to the event date.  The What Works Clearinghouse screened over 3500 studies on grades 6-12 writing instruction and has developed instructional recommendations based on the rigorous research criteria.  In this virtual session, participants will obtain evidence-based recommendations that will be broken down with specific examples and strategies that can be used in your classroom the very next day.   Registration closes 4-5 days prior to the event unless tickets are sold out.  

PD Co-op member districts $ 185.00, Non PD Co-op member districts $200.00 (lunch is included on site) Participants will learn how to utilize current evaluation data for all licensed staff to create individual, targeted small group, and school-wide professional development plans. The academy will emphasize the importance of collaboration skills in working with groups of teachers to achieve comprehensive plans. Participants will use Professional Learning Plan (PLP) tools to develop detailed plans aligned with school improvement goals to address defined needs. This academy requires 1 hour of pre-work before attending the session.  Attendees will need to bring a fully charged device to this academy.  The application/dissemination must be submitted prior to departure on 12.2.24.
