Position: Alternative Education Center Paraprofessional
Classification: Support Services – Non Exempt
Work Year: Full Time – 9 month
Qualifications: Teacher Aide Certificate
Duties: Will assist with supervision of students throughout the day including before and after school.
- Will carry out written and/or verbal instructions provided by the certified teacher under the supervision and/or instruction of the teacher.
- Will assist with non-instructional activities as directed by the teacher. Activities may include the following: clerical duties, construction of materials, daily and emergency personal care need of students, other activities as appropriate.
- Will be responsible for data collection, observations, and written summarizations of student performances as directed by the teacher.
- Will carry out class and individualized behavior programs as directed by the teacher.
- Will be responsible for appropriate interaction with students, treating them with dignity and respect.
- Will assist teachers with group activities as directed.
- Will report to appropriate classroom teachers and will be responsible for duties as assigned by that teacher (or those teachers).
- Will serve as substitute classroom teacher when necessary at the request of the program coordinator.
- Will perform other duties as assigned.
