Ideal candidate would have 6 credit hours in Child Development
Qualifications
Minimum of 30 semester hours of college credit/paraprofessional license.
Pleasant personality and neat appearance
Able to work with and around children
Ability to operate audio-visual equipment
Keyboarding skills
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Emotionally and physically able to perform duties required of position
Have a good command of the English language
Have a basic knowledge of first aid and health procedures
Possess general knowledge of office equipment
Responsibilities
Implementation of a preschool educational programs by providing comprehensive assessments, evaluations, and instructions to meet the needs of teachers, parents, and children.
Design developmentally/ individually appropriate activity- based learning experiences for preschool age children.Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual and social needs of the children in the program
Provide nutritious snacks and lunches
Provide adequate equipment and activities
Ensure equipment and the facility are clean, well maintained and safe at all times
Provide weekly and monthly schedule of activities
Develop culturally appropriate programs and activities
Develop activities that introduce math and literacy concepts
Be familiar with emergency policies
Incorporate family resources, priorities and concerns into the preschool curriculum.
Discuss children’s development with parents
Discuss identified problems and needs with professionals as appropriate
Promote literacy and early education
Facilitate positive interaction between children and adults recognizing diversity as a strength in children and families.
Maintain daily assessments on children, including portfolios
Post the Illinois early Learning Standards in the classroom and discuss with families
Be familiar with the Illinois Early Learning Standards
Use a variety of assessment tools including the Creative Curriculum, Work Sampling System Illinois, and other developmental checklists
Use assessment tools/ procedures according to standard and applies State/ national guidelines/ mandates in child evaluation.
Evaluates impact of the program on child learning/ development, demonstrating knowledge of recommended practices and research in program evaluation.
Involves parents as partners in the education of their children.
Ensure children are supervised at all times
Provide various experiences and activities for children including songs, games, and story telling
Build children’s self esteem
Comfort children
Establish routines and provide positive guidance
Implement positive discipline when required
Clearly and effectively communicate in a manner that children understand
Observe children and make note of progress
Articulates a professional development plan
Supervise children in the preschool
Terms of employment when school is in session 8 hours per day
7:30 am – 4:30

Selection Procedure: It is not necessary that you contact the District #90 administrators to request an interview. The following procedure will be followed:
1. Applications will be reviewed.
2. Based upon the assessment of the application, the most promising candidates will be contacted for a personal interview.
3. Following the interview process, a written recommendation will be prepared supporting the employment decision.
4. The recommendation for employment will be presented by the Superintendent to the Board of Education for consideration and action.
5. Those Candidates who were interviewed will be notified of the Board’s decision.
