Job Title: Director of Food Service
Reports To: Chief Financial Officer
FLSA Status: Exempt
Work Days: 240 w/July 1 contract start date
Hours: 6:00am-2:00pm – May vary per District needs
Salary Range: $70,000 – $80,000 plus Board paid IMRF

JOB SUMMARY
Responsible for organization, administration and supervision of the District’s food service program among the five schools in accordance with State and Federal laws and Board of Education policies.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Essential duties of this position include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Oversee compliance with food safety guidelines of St. Clair County, state of Illinois, and National School Lunch Program (NSLP)
- Coordinate monthly head cook meetings, and provide training for all food service employees
- Review building procedures for consistency of menus, procedures, and student dietary needs
- Maintain production of posted nutrition facts of all menus using child nutrition software
- Review health department sanitation reports and make corrections in a timely manner
- Review substitute list, develop pool of substitute cooks
- Coordinate and approve food bids from participating vendors
- Participate in the development of the local Wellness Program
- Review and approve building food orders
- Responsible for monthly reporting of qualifying meals to the state
- Responsible for processing and reporting Free/Reduced applications and all related matters
- Responsible for downloading monthly Direct Certifications from the State
- Responsible for ordering and delivering government commodities
- Oversee operation of district point of sale software program
- Oversee menu planning for the district in—services and meetings
- Maintains School Food Service Program database
- Performs billing/collections of School Food Service Program
- Perform other related duties as assigned by the Chief Financial Officer
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education – Refer to USDA Hiring Standards
For schools with 2,500-9,999 students, must have at least one of the following:
- Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent educational experience, with academic major in specific areas.
- Bachelor’s degree in any academic major and at least 2 years of relevant experience in school nutrition programs.
- Associate’s degree or equivalent educational experience, with academic major in specific areas,
- 2 or more years of relevant experience in school nutrition programs.
- Specific majors/areas of concentration: food and nutrition, food service management, dietetics, family and consumer sciences, nutrition education, culinary arts, business, or a related field
- Motor Vehicle Operator’s License or ability to provide own transportation
- Preferred experience with Food Service Point of Sale Systems
- Preferred 2 or more years of kitchen experience

- Knowledge of Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations governing preK-12 student food service

- Develop and implement a preventative maintenance program for kitchen equipment

- Organize, prioritize, and maintain good follow-through procedures; and work under pressure meeting established guidelines
- Familiar with Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite and Internet Explorer
